What is Juvederm and What are the Benefits in Abilene, TX?

Our Abilene, TX clients hear about dermal fillers and contact us with questions regarding effectiveness and the various formulations. Filler injections help add volume beneath the skin surface, which results in fewer wrinkles and creases. These fillers can also be used to add plumpness to the lips and even out their shape, restoring a more youthful appearance. Juvederm® is one of the most popular dermal fillers. It comes in several forms, each of which targets a specific concern. When we consult with our client, we describe the various formulations in detail. Whether it’s lip augmentation, treating nasolabial folds, or getting rid of fine lines and wrinkles near the eyes or mouth, there’s a Juvederm product that’s just right for the job.

How Does Juvederm® Work?

Juvederm® is a hyaluronic acid filler. This beneficial substance binds with water molecules, which in turn attract and hold additional moisture. When mixed with a gel and injected beneath the skin, the added volume literally plumps the skin surface. Wrinkled skin is smoothed out, and dynamic wrinkles are far less visible even when the patient makes extreme facial expressions.

The gel itself is somewhat malleable, giving our specialist complete control over how much to use and the depth to which it is injected. This means that a customized plan can be designed to target specific areas of the face including the lips, corners of the mouth and shallow areas between the nose and the corners of the mouth.

Fast Treatment, Fast Results

After we consult with the client, we schedule a treatment session. After applying a topical numbing agent, we inject the gel into the areas you would like to treat. The gel settles down into the lower dermal layers and on top of the subcutaneous tissues. Almost immediately, additional water is drawn to the area and binds with the gel.

Nasolabial folds become much shallower because of the plumping effect. Creases around the sides of the mouth are also significantly smaller. If used for lip augmentation, Juvederm® causes moderate plumping, which erases the thinning look while restoring the natural swoop of the lip boundary.

Versus Other Dermal Fillers

The biggest advantage of a hyaluronic acid filler is the long-lasting results. The acid is eventually redistributed throughout the rest of the body, but the additional moisture is retained in the localized area for quite some time. Many of our clients report satisfactory results lasting for up to 10 months. After this period, repeat injections will be necessary, but our clients don’t mind. It’s a favorable alternative to other treatments like skin ablation.
