Nail Fungus Treatment

Nail Fungus, also known as onychomycosis, is an infection of the nail caused by a dermatophyte that burrows within the keratin of the nail. The infected nail has characteristics of thickening, brittleness, discoloration, crumbling, lifting, loosening, odor, deformation and sometimes pain. This fungus can also spread to other nails or possibly spread to others within a household.

The Ultrawave II Laser with 1064nm Long pulse safely and effectively removes unsightly nail fungus using laser light energy to kill the fungus embedded within the nail.  The laser light energy passes through the nail without damage to the nail or surrounding skin. The treatment is painless and with no downtime.  One treatment requires 3 passes with a 2 minute break in between.  Nails with beginning stages of fungal infection can be cleared with only one treatment session.  Thicker nails, with increased fungal growth may require up to 4 treatment sessions for full eradication and clearance.  Signs of clearance are visible at 3 months, however a full healthy nail is visible at about 6 to 9 months. Fungus can return because of its presence in the surrounding environment. However, proper care and hygiene recommendations after the laser treatment will greatly reduce the chance of re-infection.
